Behind the house there is a vast garden, which is divided into three parts. The part of the garden situated behind the historic house has been restored to the configuration it had at the time of Robert Schuman with the help of old photographs. Consequently in the centre of the upper garden, known as the “leisure garden”, we find a decorative vase adorned with two Graoully dragons. This legendary beast, symbolic of the Metz region, bears witness to the interest Schuman took in regional culture.

In the lower part of this area, Robert Schuman’s kitchen garden has also been restored. It is once more bordered by trellises of apple and pear trees. The “Garden of Native Flora” is for its part divided from the leisure garden by a low wall. Il presents some forgotten varieties of plants drawn from the horticultural heritage of Eastern France. It also displays plants obtained by 19th and 20th century horticulturists such as Simon-Louis, Gerbeaux, Lemoine and Crousse. The Light and Shade Garden is a magical place, where the sun’s rays set luminous magical characters dancing on stage. The lower part of the property slopes steeply downwards to bushes and scrub.
